Marie’s interest lies in the environmental impacts of different land uses and finding practical solutions for landowners to reduce these impacts. The geology degree and the 2 years working and living on a dairy farm in the Waimakariri area provides a great basis to understand the interconnection between natural processes and human activities. Her role as the Waimakariri irrigation scheme environmental assistant has provided insight into the compliance challenges.  

Marie has experience in GIS systems data collection and analysis, compliance program administration and direct farmer communications.   

Marie is furthering her study at Massey University with a in Environmental Management degree and has completed the intermediate nutrient management course with the advanced course in 2023.
